MODULE: Promote Yourselves

Freshers’ Fair & Refreshers’ Fair

The biggest events of the year!

Freshers’ Fair and ReFreshers’ Fair are amazing opportunities to introduce yourself to plenty of students and gain new members! Your Society will have a stall, run by your your core committee and all students will be invited to attend.

Freshers’ Fair is held in Falmer, at the end of September during Freshers’ Week. ReFreshers’ Fair takes place in February, on Moulsecoomb campus.

More details regarding the date and time of these events will be released closer to the time.

TOP TIPS TO MAKE YOUR STALL STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD!

  1. Stand out by using posters, photos, flags, bunting, artwork and props. Include an interactive element – something to taste, try or watch.

  2. Design a poster and/or leaflets for your upcoming welcome event, and include a QR code to encourage students to search for more details on their phone. Canva is a free design platform you can use for this!

  3. Make a rota for your team. You get 3 stall holder passes, so you can have two people on the stall while one takes a break. Keep rotating and taking regular breaks. Whilst you’re not on the stall you could check out all the other societies and stalls at the fair!

  4. You get £50 of FREE printing per year! Make use of this for your stand! Visit an SU reception for more info.

  5. Keep any music you would like to play at a low volume, so people can hear you speak.

  6. Mingle with other Societies and make contacts. Think of all the collaboration projects you could work together on!

  7. Use social media before and during the Fair – share on Instagram Stories, tweet it, snap it, put it on Facebook. Tell people where exactly to find your stall. Make sure to tag the official BSU channels, so we can share your posts with a bigger audience!
